Potassium ferricyanide (red blood salt, potassium ferricyanide, potassium Ferricyanide) K3 [Fe (CN) 6] - dark red rhombic crystals; an aqueous solution of a yellow-greenish color; the light gradually decomposes to K4 [Fe (CN) 6]. In an alkaline environment is potassium ferricyanide strong oxidant (especially on heating). When heated with dilute sulfuric acid decomposes with the evolution of hydrogen cyanide, under the action of concentrated H2SO4 released carbon monoxide.
Prepared Potassium ferricyanide (potassium ferrocyanide) oxidation of K4 [Fe (CN) 6] in hydrochloric acid with chlorine, bromine or other strong oxidant, such as potassium permanganate.
Potassium ferricyanide (red blood salt, potassium ferricyanide, potassium Ferricyanide) is used
• In the pictures, as a component of tinting, bleaching, amplify, attenuate solutions in photography,
• the electrolyte in devices hemotronnyh component electrolytes in electroplating, a reagent for detecting Fe2 +, Li + Sn2 +, as well as a strong oxidizing agent,
• in soil science, for the qualitative determination gleying (ferrous salts) and others.
